SCHEDULE:
Registration and Breakfast (8:30am- 9:15am) Keynote Speaker, Anndee Hochman (pictured) "The Stories That Shape Us; The Stories We Tell" (9:15am– 10:10am) Workshop Session I (10:15am-11:00am) Talking to Kids About Sexuality and Gender – Al Vernacchio, M.S.Ed. Ever at a loss for how and when to talk to your kids about sex, sexual orientation and gender identity? Especially as an LGBTQ parent? Come hear from Al Vernacchio, Sexuality Educator at Friends’ Central School and leave with some concrete ways forward no matter the age of your kids. Maintaining Intimacy for LGBTQ Parents – Jessica Floresta, LCSW, MEd, CST and PFP parents Angel Brice and Genea Brown The transition to parenthood comes with a lot of changes from sleep deprivation to new routines and schedules. This session will discuss ways to maintain intimacy between parents whether you are welcoming a new baby into your home, adopting an older child, or already a parent and looking to get that spark back in your relationship. Transparency: Our Stories - Chloe Harris, PFP Board Member This workshop will focus on transgender parents and the parents of transgender children. We'll break down into smaller groups to share our stories with each other. These can be our successes, struggles, or conflicts. Everyone attending will have a voice in this workshop. Afterwards we'll reconvene to discuss some different ways our geographically scattered community can support each other in the future. Blended LGBTQ Families - Naomi Washington-Leapheart, PFP Parent and others TBA Hear stories from other PFP parents about their blended families and share ideas about what’s worked for you as you navigate parenting together with a new partner (or partners), new sibling relationships and stepping into the role of a stepparent. * Domestic Adoption Options – PFP Board Chair Adam Podowitz-Thomas, attorney Tiffany Palmer, an agency rep and other PFP adoptive parents Find out about the adoption options available to LGBTQ parents and prospective parents from a panel of adoption agency representatives and adoptive parents. |

Gender Expansive Parenting - Ana & Gina DelCorazon, PFP parents
In a culture dominated by strict gender binary rules, how do we as queer parents raise children to be their full, gender-expansive selves? Hear ideas and best practices from research and personal experience, and share your own ideas as well.
Your Turn to Tell: Make a Memoir or Create a Zine - PFP parents Anndee Hochman and Jadzia Axelrod
In this hands-on workshop led by two PFP parents, you'll choose to either create a zine or craft a short memoir piece about an unforgettable moment in your life.
Self Care for Single Parents - PFP parents Tiffany Byrd, April Alexander and Katy Chatel
Connect with other LGBTQ single parents and discuss ways you take care of yourself while taking care of your kids.
*Surrogacy 101 - TJ Henderson, Exec. Director of Surrogate Services International
Hear from representatives from a local surrogacy agency as well as parents who have formed their families using surrogacy and get your questions answered.
*LGBTQ Family Building Options – Dr. Jacqueline Gutmann, RMA of Philadelphia and Michele Ottey, Fairfax Cryobank
Dr. Gutmann will share information about effective fertility procedures that allow same sex couples and transgender individuals/couples to have an excellent chance of achieving pregnancy and starting a family.
Drag Queen Story Time - Brittany Lynn
Come and hear stories about friendship, love, diversity, and acceptance with Philly's favorite drag queen Miss Brittany Lynn! Dress up time, coloring time, and more surprises fill this fun hour! Because space is limited, only parents of kids in the 0-6 year old space are asked to consider joining in the fun. (Brittany will hang around for some photo ops at the beginning of lunch.)

Why Don’t We Go to Grandma’s? - Damon Constantinides, PhD, LCSW
How do we talk to our kids about extended family members who don’t affirm or support our queer family? Join PFP parent and therapist Damon Constantinides as he talks through this issue with us.
Caring for Children Who Have Experienced Trauma - Quinn Pellerito, WOAR Philadelphia
In this workshop parents and perspective parents will expand their framework from an incident related trauma approach to include complex, attachment related, and systemic based traumas. Parents and perspective parents will be able to recognize trauma symptoms in children and learn how to integrate coping skills for their youth. Parents and perspective parents will learn about the impact being a supportive stable and reliable adult in the lives of children who have experienced trauma.
Multiracial and Multicultural Parenting - PFP parents Nicole Molinari, Abdel Pena and others
What does it mean to parent a child who doesn't look like you? Share your features? Your color? Your culture? What will it mean for them in the future? These are the topics that will be addressed in this workshop.
Your Name on the Birth Certificate is Not Enough: Why You Need Second Parent Adoptions, Donor and Co-Parenting Agreements - Attorneys and PFP parents Rebecca Levin and Janine Momasso
This workshop will be an introduction to second-parent adoptions and their importance, donor agreements and co-parenting arrangements with experienced family law attorneys.
Becoming a Foster Parent - DHS Staffer Dionne Showell, PFP board member Leigh Braden and others TBA
Learn about the requirements to become a foster parent and the steps in the process from representatives of foster agencies and DHS. Foster parents and foster youth will also share their stories.
