An easy way to support PFP is by holding a birthday fundraiser for us on Facebook!
You'll see the promotion starting about a month before your birthday under Events / Birthdays asking if you'd like to hold a fundraiser. Click yes to get started. The sooner you start, the better! How to do it:
Search for "Philadelphia Family Pride" and select us as your beneficiary.
Next set a reachable goal, for example $200. If you reach that goal quickly, you can always go back and edit it higher to continue to challenge your friends. For example Stephanie's fundraiser shown here started with a goal of $250, which she upped to $500, then to $1000 and finally to $1250 as each goal was met. Be transparent in the posts by stating something like "wow, y'all crushed my goal so I bumped it up!"
Follow the suggestions and prompts that Facebook gives you for how to be successful including personalizing the "why" portion of the fundraiser with what PFP means to you and the photo selected. It's best to donate a little money to your fundraiser yourself to get the ball rolling as well.
Finally, invite your friends - and cast a wide net! You don't know who will surprise you with a donation! Thank each person as they donate and share the post a few times during the couple of weeks or days leading up to your birthday. You don't need to do all the invites at once, a bunch each day will keep things fresh.
Note: As of October 31, 2023, Facebook will no longer wave the credit card fees for these fundraisers, instead people will be asked to cover the fees. The fundraisers are also now run by the Paypal Giving Fund.
Thank you, and let us know if you have any questions!
