Camping With Pride

PFP holds a weekend, family-friendly tent camping trip each year. In 2023, we will be camping Friday and Saturday nights May 19-21 at French Creek State Park in Berks County, PA. Bring your tents, supplies, and your family for a two night camping extravaganza.
PFP reserved two rustic organized group tenting sites. (Rustic means porta potties, water pump, and no showers. There are showers a short drive away for $4/person.)
This trip is for first-time campers, experienced campers, and everyone in between. As with all of our events, LGBTQ+ prospective parents and grandparents are encouraged to join us for the camping trip.
Want to attend but don’t want to spend the night? Feel free to join us for the day on Saturday, but please still RSVP (instructions below).
The camping trip is FREE for PFP members and $20/family for non-members. Not a member yet and want to become one? Membership is "pay what you can."
Click here to join or renew. Not sure when you last paid membership dues? Email PFP ED Stephanie Haynes, and she'll check.
Please e-mail Lori Keslowitz to reserve a spot on the trip. Send an email even if you are not planning on staying the night. We can accommodate 60 people total for camping overnight and can have unlimited visitors.
In your email to Lori, please let her know your names and pronouns, the number and ages of kids (if any), your cell phone number, and any activity you'd be interested in joining or leading (birding, hiking, canoeing, etc.). Lori will send you the link to pay if you aren't a PFP member.
If you are new to camping (and/or PFP) and have questions about gear, food, camping with kids, ANYTHING, please ask Lori in your email. She's got the answers!
Accessibility info: The group campground areas are grassy and rocky. They are not paved. Wheelchairs would ideally have terrain tires to move around comfortably at the campsite. Unfortunately the porta potties at the campground are not wheelchair accessible. The Hopewell Big Woods Trail in the park is ADA accessible.
Past trips have included treks to Parvin State Park, French Creek State Park, Mauch Chunk Lake in Carbon County and parks in New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware.
